2024 Walpole Garden Update
Over the summer and fall, we have completed a number of projects within the Walpole Garden, located in Terwilliger Parkway along Hamilton Terrace.
We have made a path from near the Terwilliger Parkway pedestrian crosswalk, down through the Walpole Garden to the Bancroft and Hamilton Terrace intersection. The nearby Terwilliger light post provides illumination of its steps.
The view of the Walpole Garden, its labyrinth and the Willamette from the top of the path is shown.
Along the Terwilliger walking path at the scenic viewpoint in the middle of the Bancroft right of way, we have placed a small seating area using two locust log stumps (below). This is a great place to pause your walk or jog and admire the view of the Willamette Valley and MT Hood in the distance.
We have made an additional stump seating area in the Walpole Garden at the base of the sequoia in the flat area north of the right of way.
We are just beginning to develop a plan for native plantings.
At the Walpole Garden labyrinth south of the right of way that we completed last July, we have been having a series of special sunset lighted
meditative walks with native American flute music.
FOR THIS WINTER SOLSTICE, WE WILL HOLD ANOTHER SUNSET LABYRINTH WALK STARTING AT 5PM ON DECEMBER 21.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN US.
