2019 Volunteers Plant hundreds of Native Plants
It’s only March and already Friends of Terwilliger’s dedicated volunteers have planted hundreds of native plants.
Many thanks go out to all of you who came out to the historic Terwilliger Parkway so far this year, and planted our favorite native plants. Native plants are adapted to our climate, aren’t invasive, and provide habitat and food to our local critters. They offer us humans a beautiful, green canopy above and layers of shrubs and groundcover below that stabilizes our soil and hillsides and renews and invigorates our senses. According to the Intertwine Alliance, a coalition of 150+ public, private and nonprofit organizations working to integrate nature more deeply into the Portland-Vancouver metropolitan region, “an ever-increasing body of research confirms the direct connection between a healthy environment and healthy residents.”
