Please Slow Down
Portland and Seattle transportation agencies recently unveiled a program urging drivers to Slow the Flock Down!
A subtle message to be sure!
Please help us keep Historic Terwilliger Parkway, a linear park in SW Portland, safe for all users. We ask all of you to keep the pace and drive the 25mph posted speed. Terwilliger Parkway was designed in 1912 to be a leisurely drive, hence the meandering style of the roadway traveling under the forested canopy.
Nationally, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System, speeding is involved in about 30% of all traffic deaths. In Portland, speed is identified as a major factor in half of deadly crashes. To achieve safe speeds, Portland is redesigning streets, lowering speed limits, expanding its speed safety camera program, and educating drivers.
