A Sunny Day in Terwilliger Parkway: Native Plants in and Ivy Out
Terwilliger Parkway got the best of both worlds last month! Volunteers put in native plants and had time to also do ivy removal! How good is that?
The skies were blue and the sun was out when 20 volunteers showed up and shared their enthusiasm for protecting Terwilliger Parkway by planting over 250 native plants. We even had a volunteer who just moved here a week ago from the east coast and found this volunteer opportunity. Everyone shared their tenacity and muscles when there was time left of the 3 hour volunteer event and jumped in to pull ivy. I love it when we can have it both ways:
1. put in native plants that support our native birds and animals AND
2. remove that invasive ivy that doesn’t help anyone or anything!
