Lewis & Clark Students Help Restore Terwilliger Parkway By Freeing Trees of Ivy
Terwilliger Parkway and all of its friends were thrilled to have 20 Lewis & Clark College students and staff help free the trees of the invasive ivy growing up into the canopy.
Imagine our feelings of excitement and glee when Lewis & Clark College contacted us and offered 20 students and staff to help Friends of Terwilliger with our on-going restoration efforts. Mostly first-year college students, these individuals shared 4 hours of their time to learn about the history of the Parkway, why invasive species such as ivy are bad, and how these restoration efforts improve our tree canopy by enhancing the cooling and oxygen-providing benefits of forests
.
Oh, and did we tell you most of these students come from outside of Oregon? They came all the way from places like Myanmar, Spain, California, Virginia, and Colorado.
